MOCK MAGAZINE - CONTENTS PAGE

Here is the contents page for my mock magazine, i used word and paint to put this together. It shows the reader what is contained in the magazine with appropriate pictures. I made sure that everything I wanted to put in my magazine was appropriate to the 'niche' audience. Which would be the sixth form students.
I made sure that the students would not be loaded with a lot of information, and the main headlines would be in the biggest font, because being a student myself; i would know what students now would be interested in. Again, i kept it 'cool' and 'modern' which would intice my audience. I also used pictures which were from the school, students from the school - which would appear as interesting to the students. Which means that they would buy the magazine. Which is the aim.

IMAGE MANIPULATION

To experiment with ideas for a magazine cover, we experimented with the main picture. We had too crop the picture too fit the magazine cover. To familiarize ourselves with DTP.

IPC MEDIA RESEARCH

http://www.ipcmedia.com/brands/brands.php

I looked at this website because IPC media is a major production company for magazines. I looked at the IPC media website too gain ideas of the layout of a front cover and how too target my audience through the front cover. Most of the magazines IPC media fit under the 'mass marketing' scene, they also produce 'niche' magazine that are targetted to smaller groups of people.

This will help me too make my preliminary magazine, and my final magazine, because I can see how each magazine on the IPC media website clearly shows who the target audience is.

QUESTIONNAIRE AND ANALYSIS

I put together a questionnaire too find out if people read magazines; if so then what type of magazines, what they would like too see in the magazine and what i should include in the magazine. In order too get a few ideas of what the sixth form students would like too see in my magazine,I produced this questionnaire;

My results for the questionnaire
I asked five individuals too fill out my questionnaire, and here are the results that i discovered.

1) Four people out of the five do read a magazine. However one person does not read a magazine.
2) Four people read a magazine weekly and one person reads a magazine sometimes.
3) Four people preffer to read a music magazine, one person; said that they read other magazines, none of the choices that i gave them. They chose 'other.'
4) Every person, which is five people in total (100%) said that they wanted school colours too be used in the school magazine that i am making.
5) Every person (100%) also said that they wanted information about music in the magazine, however; 40%, also said that they would like infomation about year twelve in the magazine.
6) 100% of the people who filled out the questionnaire also said that they would want a say in the contents of the magazine.

I now know what has too feature in my magazine in order for it to target my audience; which is the sixth form students.
